The Journal Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "In summary, our investigations demonstrated that the extract of Inonotus baumii inhibited the proliferation in SMMC-7721 cells and induced cell death, in which apoptosis and autophagy might be involved. These findings provide a further understanding of the mechanism by which I. baumii acts as a potential agent for the prevention and treatment of cancers including HCC. Future research is needed to focus on identifying bioactive compounds that play a role in this medicinal fungus"
The Journal Phytomedicine report "These results are the first observation of uterine sarcoma cell death induced by Gyejibokryunghwan (GBH) and confirmation of the mechanism of cell death, which occurred through the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. Clinically, uterine sarcoma has a poor prognosis with no appropriate treatment. GBH may become a new treatment modality for uterine sarcoma."
The Journal Phytomedicine report "Numerous studies have focused on solvent extracts from locust trees (Gleditsia spp.), which contain diverse bioactive components including saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. However, because of the undefined nature of such phytochemicals, their clinical application as chemotherapeutic agents has often been limited. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-oncogenic activity of triacanthine, an alkaloid obtained from Gleditsia triacanthos L.Triacanthine inhibits the proliferation, migration, and invasion of bladder-carcinoma cells both in vitro and in xenografted tumors. Unlike cisplatin, which caused a significant loss of body weight, triacanthine had no side effects at doses of up to 10 mg/kg in xenografted mice. Moreover, an acutetoxicity test showed no harmful effects in triacanthine-treated mice. We believe that our results provide valuable information about triacanthine, thereby potentially enhancing the development of chemotherapeutic agents (without side effects) for patients with bladder cancer.
Seminars in Cancer Biology report " Restoring vitamin C to the normal range in cancer patients is a straightforward strategy that may improve the response to epigenetic therapy. This may enhance disease control and, in younger patients, enable subsequent curative treatment such as transplantation and prolonged survival. Vitamin C supplementation may also increase the catalytic activity of other epigenetic regulators such as histone demethylases, for which new drugs are currently being developed. Because aberrant epigenetic regulation is common to all cancers, the basic effects of vitamin C on the methylation of DNA and histones may have implications far beyond hematological cancers"
The Journal Chinese Medicine report "Despite its limitations, this study provides powerful and preliminary data to support the future evaluation of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae (RSM) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). RSM may be a potential anti-HCC inhibitor, which can be developed as a therapeutic option for the treatment of cancer."
The Journal Planta Medican report "In conclusion, Silymarin-enriched extract (SEE) extract and its bioactive compounds have an antiproliferative effect against human prostate cancer cells (PC-3) cells and also exert an additive effect when combined with Doxorubicin (DXR). Even though the combinational scheme of DXR‑SEE enhances the DXR induced protective autophagy in its initiative steps, it finally suppresses the autophagolysosome degradation, leading to an excessive cell death through the induction of apoptosis; however, more studies are needed to further clarify how these alterations of the autophagic potential serve as a death signal. Since SEE extract highly sensitizes DXRmediated cytotoxicity in PC-3 cells, it gathers the scientific interest regarding its potential application as an adjuvant PCa treatment.
The Journal Nutrients report "Nature has provided us with many substances displaying anticancer activity which have widely been applied in medicine, such as taxanes, vinca alkaloids, podophyllotoxin, camptothecin, anthracyclines, their derivatives and others. In recent years, a vast number of natural compounds have been tested to establish their medical potential in cancer therapy; however, only a small minority of these substances have qualified for clinical trials and treatment of cancer patients......Natural compounds remain an interesting tool in cancer treatment, thus we believe that more promising anticancer substances will be discovered which will allow for untapped scientific possibilities."

The Journal of Ethnopharmacology report "Conclusion The results of this study provide new scientific evidence for the traditional use of local medicinal plant species C. lansium, L. indica, P. bleo, S. crispus, V. amygdalina and V. trifolia in cancer treatment. These results highlight the importance of the upkeep of these indigenous plants in modern society and their relevance as resources for drug discovery."
The Journal Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "Jie du tong ye san (JDTYS), a traditional Chinese herbal formula, has been used for cancer adjuvant therapy in clinical use and has been shown to be effective in cancer patients. However, the mechanism of JDTYS is still unclear. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the chemopreventive effects of JDTYS for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and to clarify the potential mechanism.....In summary, we provided evidence that JDTYS significantly inhibits the formation of esophageal precancerous lesions induced by NMBA. The inhibitory effect of JDTYS on esophageal precancerous lesions is related to downregulation of proliferation related proteins Ki67 and c-Jun and modulation inflammation related proteins COX-2, NF-κB, PTX3, and CD11B.
The Journal of the National Cancer Institute report "In summary, we found higher vitamin E status, as measured by serum alpha-tocopherol concentrations from two blood collections taken three years apart, were related in a dosedependent manner to decreased lung cancer incidence during a 28-year period. The inverse association was observed primarily among younger men and those with fewer cumulative years of cigarette smoking. Our findings provide evidence supporting the importance of adequate physiological vitamin E status for lung cancer risk reduction.
The American Botanical Council report "Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, with 266,120 cases in women and 2,550 cases in men diagnosed in 2018.1 In women, breast cancer represents 30% of all cancers diagnosed and is responsible for 14% of all deaths from cancer.2 Of all breast cancers diagnosed in women, more than three-quarters are diagnosed in postmenopausal women.3 The five-year survival rate for localized breast cancer is 99%, whereas the five-year survival for metastatic breast cancer is 27%.4 According to the American Cancer Society, deaths from breast cancer in the United States have fallen by 30% over the past two decades.5 This improvement is likely due in part to better screening, which results in an increased proportion of early stage diagnoses that are more amenable to treatment. Improved treatments also have contributed to this favorable trend. The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer will undergo conventional treatment in the form of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and/or endocrine therapy. Many of these women seek additional integrative therapies, including botanicals, to improve their tolerance to, and the efficacy of, these conventional treatments.
While the clinical data supporting the use of botanicals concurrent with conventional treatment is far from robust, there is a body of emerging data. One area of interest is the reduction of adverse side effects, which can make conventional treatment a more tolerable experience and improve treatment adherence, thereby supporting better outcomes. This article provides an overview of the current state of evidence for selected botanicals for improving outcomes with conventional therapies.

The Journal Nutrition Research report "RNA-Seq Expression Profiling analyses from a pilot clinical trial in which women with breast cancer consumed 2 ounces of walnuts per day for 2 to 3 weeks between the diagnostic biopsy and subsequent surgery showed that gene expression in the tumor was modified in ways expected to slow proliferation, reduce inflammation, reduce metastasis and to increase cancer cell death. It seems likely that if gene expression was modified in the tumor due to consumption of walnuts, then gene expression of any metastatic cells should also be modified thus decreasing risk for cancer recurrence."
The Journal Alternative and Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "Despite widespread use, there remains a paucity of research exploring cancer patients’ experiences of receiving complementary therapy treatment. We wanted to gain insight into the experiences of patients using a complementary therapy outpatient service offering aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and Reiki....Qualitative comments collected from this evaluation indicate that complementary therapies can address both physical and emotional concerns often simultaneously and provide a unique therapeutic space for patients. Many patients have not had this experience before and this may introduce them to new methods of addressing complex multi dimensional issues resulting from living with a cancer diagnosis."
The European Journal of Integrative Medicine report "Overall, present study suggest that the selected plants such as Cassia occidentalis, Callistemon viminalis, Cleome viscosa and Mimosa hamataexhibited significant cytotoxicity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells along with inhibition of angiogenesis in CAM model and scavenging of free radicals.

The Journal Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research report "Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and new therapeutic strategies are still required. Here we screened a synthetic cannabinoid library to identify compounds that uniformly reduce the viability of seven CRC cell lines......We identified three families of cannabinoid compounds that reduce CRC cell viability through a noncanonical receptor mechanism. Future modification of these compounds may lead to the development of novel therapies to treat this disease."
The Journal lanta Medica report "Licorice has been traditionally recognized as a “guide drug” (drugs that enhance the effectiveness and reduce the toxicity of other ingredients) and is added to most traditional and modern prescriptions. Basic in vitro and in vivo pharmacological studies indicate that the combined treatment of licorice compounds, such as GA, ISLG, and LCA, with clinical chemotherapy drugs presents both synergistic antineoplastic effects and a reduction of the side effects of chemotherapeutics GL also reverses cisplatin resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Furthermore, GL pretreatment enhances UVB-induced apoptosis in melanoma cells, blocks UVB-induced skin tumor formation, and hinders ionizing radiation-induced tumor cell extravasation and lung metastasis. All of these findings indicate that a combined therapy may provide an optimal venue for licorice compounds in clinical application."
The Journal JNCI Cancer Spectrum report "Acupressure was associated with greater improvements than usual care in anxiety, pain, and symptoms of depression in breast cancer survivors with troublesome fatigue. These findings warrant further evaluation in suitably controlled randomized trials."

The Journal Complementary Therapy in Medicine report "Children with cancer undergoing chemotherapy experience many adverse effects. The effectiveness of painting- and handcrafting-based art therapy on the various dimensions of health-related quality of life in paediatric outpatients previously diagnosed with heterogeneity of malignancy was evaluated in the present study.findings of the study suggest that exposure to painting- and handcrafting-based art therapy improves the overall health-related quality of life in children with cancer.
The Journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research report "Bladder cancer is a significant health burden due to its high prevalence, risk of mortality, morbidity, and high cost of medical care. Epidemiologic evidence suggests that diets rich in cruciferous vegetables, particularly broccoli, are associated with lower bladder cancer risk. Based upon our work and others‟, we believe that the use of cruciferous vegetable consumption, or the development of specific food products rich in cruciferous vegetable components, warrants additional studies in bladder cancer prevention as well as part of future effective treatment strategies. The bladder offers multiple opportunities for intervention with foods or phytochemicals in cancer prevention and it is up to us to best harness these opportunities
Cancer Pain + Healing Touch + Massage
The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine report "Pain is one of the most distressing side effects of cancer and its associated treatments. This study compared the immediate effectiveness of Healing Touch (HT) and Oncology Massage (OM) on pain in the largest-yet sample of diverse oncology patients after one routine clinical session. Both HT and OM significantly reduced pain score and yielded clinically significantly pain improvement, although the duration of pain relief was unknown. OM was associated with increased odds of clinically significant pain improvement when controlling for pretherapy pain. In patients with severe pretherapy pain, the odds of clinically significant pain improvement between HT and OM were not significantly different. These findings represent noteworthy contributions to the field of Integrative Oncology and study of pain management with integrative therapies by demonstrating that both HT and OM provided immediate pain relief after a single therapy session in a large, diverse routine clinical care patient population.
The Journal Chinese Medicine report "In summary, this study provides insight into the composition and structure of the polysaccharides of Dendrobium officinale grown in the Huoshan area and highlights their distinct anti-tumor effects. Furthermore, GJXLT inhibited the growth of lung cancer xenograft in nude mice model with no obvious side effects. The anti-tumor effect of GJXLT might also be related to the inhibition of p-STATS and VEGF expression in the JAK2/STAT3 pathway. Our results demonstrated the potential of GJXLT as a novel treatment for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)."
The journal of the National Cancer Institute report "Insomnia is two to three times more prevalent in cancer survivors than in the general population, where it is estimated to be 10% to 20%. Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the recommended treatment for chronic insomnia, but meeting survivor needs remains a challenge. Internet-delivered CBT-I (iCBT-I) has been shown efficacious in otherwise healthy adults. We tested the efficacy of iCBT-I in breast cancer survivors with clinically significant sleep disturbance.
Conclusion: iCBT-I appears to be effective in breast cancer survivors, with additional benefit in terms of reduced fatigue. This low-cost treatment could be incorporated in cancer rehabilitation programs."

Cervical cancer + Cannabis
BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "Results obtained indicate that both cannabidiol and Cannabis sativa extracts were able to halt cell proliferation in all cell lines at varying concentrations. They further revealed that apoptosis was induced by cannabidiol as shown by increased subG0/G1 and apoptosis through annexin V. Apoptosis was confirmed by overexpression of p53, caspase 3 and bax. Apoptosis induction was further confirmed by morphological changes, an increase in Caspase 3/7 and a decrease in the ATP levels.
Conclusions In conclusion, these data suggest that cannabidiol rather than Cannabis sativa crude extracts prevent cell growth and induce cell death in cervical cancer cell lines.

Cancer + Chinese Propolis
Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "Previous studies from our group reported the biological activities of Chinese propolis and the present study was the first one to investigate the effective components on antitumor activity in CPWE. Four phenolic acids (caffeic acid, ferulic acid, isoferulic acid, and 3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid) had little cytotoxicity on four tumor cell lines; the other seven constituents (pinobanksin, caffeic acid benzyl ester, caffeic acid phenethyl ester, apigenin, pinocembrin, chrysin, and galangin) obviously decreased four tumor cells’ proliferation, although the inhibitory effects of the seven components were different from each other, which indicated that the antitumor effects of CPWE did not depend on a single component, and at least the seven effective components might be “bioactive components” of antitumor activity. Admittedly, there must be other effective components needed to be studied further...."
Urinary Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma + Pomegranate
BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine report "Comparative proteomics indicated that 20 proteins were differentially expressed in ethanol extract-treated T24 cells with 19 up-regulated and 1 down-regulated proteins. These de-regulated proteins were involved in apoptosis, cytoskeleton regulation, cell proliferation, proteasome activity and aerobic glycolysis. Further studies on signaling pathway demonstrated that ethanol extract treatment might inhibit urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma cell proliferation through restriction of PTEN/AKT/mTORC1 pathway via profilin 1 up-regulation. It also might evoke cell apoptosis through Diablo over-expression.
Conclusions - The results of this study provide a global picture to further investigate the anticancer molecular mechanism of pomegranate fruit.

__Antineoplastic activity of Cannabinoids
_Lewis
lung adenocarcinoma growth was retarded by the oral administration of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol,
delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, and cannabinol (CBN), but not cannabidiol (CBD).
Animals treated for 10 consecutive days with delta-9-THC, beginning the day after
tumor implantation, demonstrated a dose-dependent action of retarded tumor growth.
Mice treated for 20 consecutive days with delta-8-THC and CBN had reduced primary
tumor size. CBD showed no inhibitory effect on tumor growth at 14, 21, or 28 days.
Delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC, and CBN increased the mean survival time (36% at 100
mg/kg, 25% at 200 mg/kg, and 27% at 50 mg/kg;, respectively), whereas CBD did
not. Delta-9-THC administered orally daily until death in doses of 50, 100, or
200 mg/kg did not increase the life-spans of (C57BL/6 X DBA/2) F (BDF) mice hosting
the L1210 murine leukemia. However, delta-9-THC administered daily for 10 days
significantly inhibited Friend leukemia virus-induced splenomegaly by 71% at 200
mg/kg as compared to 90.2% for actinomycin D. Experiments with bone marrow and
isolated Lewis lung cells incubated in vitro with delta-8-THC and delta-9-THC
showed a dose-dependent (10 -4 10 -7) inhibition (80-20%, respectively) of tritiated
thymidine and 14C -uridine uptake into these cells. CBD was active only in high
concentrations (10 -4)

Induction of Apoptosis of Tumor Cells by Some Potentiated Homeopathic Drugs:Implications on Mechanisms of Action
Below is the abstract and conclusion of a study of Tumour cell death and Homeopathy. Unfortunately I cannot find a free full text copy.
Abstract
Homoeopathic medicines treat diseases, including cancer, using ultradiluted preparations. Earlier studies indicated that homoeopathic medicines are cytotoxic to tumor cells and reduced animal tumors. However, the mechanism of homoeopathic medicines at the cellular level is not known.
CONCLUSION: These data indicate that apoptosis is one of the mechanisms of tumor reduction of homeopathic drugs. A comparison of potentiated drugs with their mother tincture indicated that the potentiated drugs have biological activity similar to that of their mother tincture in spite of ultradilution.

Potential Therapeutic Effects of Pomegranate Juice on Prostate Cancer
American Botanical Council - "The authors conclude that “this study shows statistically significant effects [of pomegranate juice] on PSADT coupled with corresponding effects on prostate cancer in vitro cell growth and apoptosis,” but that the “proposed benefits shown in this study are in assays that are as yet unvalidated, and further research is needed to prove the validity of these tests and to determine whether improvements in such biomarkers (including PSADT) are likely to serve as surrogates for clinical benefit.” Their results are being further tested in a randomized, double-blind, three-arm, placebo-controlled study (begun in April 2006), in which the ability of two pomegranate juice doses to produce a predefined alternation in PSA kinetics is being compared with the change observed in a control group. If the results of that study are positive, “a strong rationale would exist for research on other plant polyphenols that might mediate similar effects,” say the authors.
Adequate Vitamin D may stop cancer at outset
UC San Diego study – In studying the preventive effects of vitamin D, researchers at the Moores Cancer Centre at the University of California, San Diego, have proposed a new model of cancer development that hinges on a loss of cancer cells’ ability to stick together. The model, dubbed DINOMIT, differs substantially from the current model of cancer development, which suggests genetic mutations as the earliest driving forces behind cancer.
